Chubb Appoints Barnett as Head of North American Surety – Enterprise Insurance

Chubb Ltd. appointed Richard Barnett, executive vice president and head of construction warranty, North America on Wednesday.

The announcement follows the appointment of former Chubb surety chief Matthew Lubin as president of the surety division of Crum & Forster Holding Corp. with effect from September 20th.

Mr. Barnett, based in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, joined Chubb in 1986 as a surety auditor and previously served as the surety director for engineering and construction where he led underwriting for large construction clients, Chubb said in a statement.

In his new role, Mr. Barnett will lead the underwriting, strategy and management of building guarantees and services offered through Chubb's global corporate customer segment, the insurer said.

He reports to Stephen Haney, Vice President, Chubb Group and Division President, North America Surety and Chief Underwriting Officer, Global Surety.

In his new role, Mr. Lubin will meanwhile be responsible for the growth and administration of Crum & Forster's guarantee portfolio and will report to Marc Adee, CEO of Crum & Forster, said the Morristown, New Jersey-based subsidiary of Canada's Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. Tuesday.

Mr. Lubin joins Crum & Forster after more than three decades in various management positions with a focus on surety at Chubb, the last five years as executive vice president of building surety.
