DMV proclaims new improve in motorcar insurance protection from January 1st – 8News

RICHMOND, Virginia (WRIC) – The Department of Motor Vehicles has announced that a bill passed in Virginia earlier this year will begin increasing car insurance coverage on January 1, 2022.

Liability coverage requirements in Virginia will increase twice over the next three years.

The DMV said that in order to acquire license plates and titles and register a vehicle in Virginia after January 1, 2022, individuals must certify that the vehicle is covered by the minimum insurance requirements or pay the uninsured motor vehicle fee.

Vehicle owners were caught driving without insurance or failed to pay for the uninsured engine
The vehicle fee will suspend driving and licensing privileges and pay a $ 600 non-compliance fee to restore privileges.
