High ten most costly (and inexpensive) auto insurance job titles – insurance business

For the second year in a row, Hertfordshire-based vehicle leasing company Vanarama researched the top 100 job titles in the UK to find out which professions pay the highest insurance premiums.

The company gathered data from the Office of the National Statistics, the BBC broadcaster and database company Statista to paint a picture of the average UK driver. What Vanarama invented is someone who drives a Volkswagen Golf, drives 7,600 miles every year, has fully comprehensive insurance and has no previous accident claims in their name.

Here is the full profile of the hypothetical average driver from Vanarama.

  • Named Driver: 39 years old
  • Driving years: 15 years
  • Vehicle: Volkswagen Golf 1.5L 2020
  • Cover level: Comprehensive
  • Miles per year: 7,600
  • Voluntary Deductible: £ 500
  • Day parking: factory or office parking lot
  • Overnight Parking: Locked home garage

The company then entered those details on the largest car comparison website in the country along with the same birthday and date the license was acquired, just changing the job title. The results showed how much car insurance premiums are charged for each occupation.

Here are the 10 most expensive and 10 cheapest car insurance job titles in the UK, based on Vanarama's research.

Top 10 Most Expensive Car Insurance Premium Job Titles

Almost all occupations in the top 10 shot up the ranking from last year. The recruiter topped this year's list, moving away from 30th place in 2020, with rewards more than doubling from around £ 350 to just over £ 815. However, it was the designer who saw the biggest jump from 98th place last year to second place in 2021. Professional premiums cost an average of £ 776, up from £ 312.

Social workers and counselors came third with an average car insurance cost of around £ 714. The physiotherapist, midwife and nurse paid about £ 707 a year in premiums. Hairdressers, who had dropped from third to eighth, had to spend about £ 506 in premium costs, while senior managers and supervisors rounded out the top 10 paying just over £ 498 in auto insurance.
