New York modifications insurance supervision – Enterprise Insurance

Shirin Emami has been named acting superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services, a spokesman for the governor's office confirmed Thursday.

Most recently, Ms. Emami was Deputy Managing Director of the DFS Banking Division. She replaces Linda Lacewell, who resigned effective August 24th.

According to New York State law, there must be an acting superintendent of DFS who regulates the insurance sector and other financial organizations until one can be appointed by the new Governor Kathy Hochul and then approved by the New York State Senate, a DFS spokesperson said in an email.

Governor Hochel was sworn in on Tuesday. She was previously the lieutenant governor of Governor Andrew Cuomo, who resigned on allegations of sexual harassment.
