REX, Ga. – Clayton County MPs have charged a Rex woman with insurance fraud and counterfeiting.
Officials say Angelina Cortez, 46, presented herself at the Clayton County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday.
According to the investigators, Cortez applied for household insurance on July 21. As part of that claim, officials say the woman filed fraudulent bank documents with the Navy Federal Credit Union and forged receipts from a hotel.
Overall, the investigators believe that she earned almost $ 17,000 from the forged documents.
